Has anyone had experiences (good or bad) w/ the Mares Rebel II ? Was diving at Bull Shoals over the weekend. At 87 feet the temp was 47*. My Rebel became very hard to breathe from. Got quite intense for a moment or two. :o Won't be diving to that depth w/ those regs for awhile :-[

It is hard to believe that water temperture had anything to do with it. When was the last time it was serviced? I would definitely have it looked at.

What a nasty dive. Almost nighttime, 90 feet deep and in 47 degree water. Visibility was only 15’ – 20’ because everything was turning over. The lake was basically a series of undercut stone steps. And it was very easy to drift into the underside of one of the “steps†without noticing. It’s never a good time to have equipment problems – but this really sucked.
I think his regs are only about 6 months old.

I just had the annual inspection on my right before leaving. They are only about 6 months old, also.

I have a Mares Abyss, and it is a great reg. No problems or free flow in 37 degree water. But the Rebel I am not familiar with.

Are you sure the tank valve was open all the way ?
Try it on another tank that you know is open all the way. (on the surface)
If no problem then the tank you were using might not have been open all the way or the
Tank valve might have a problem and need to be serviced. Sometimes the center of the
seat in the valve comes loose and does not open all the way or jams up.
If you still have a problem, with the second tank then it sounds like a h.p. seat problem in your 1st. stage
which you should have it serviced before using it again.
